Webroot Spy Sweeper – Spyware Removal Program
Webroot Spy Sweeper is a business class anti-spyware solution from WebRoot. The program is $29.95 to own and has a free trial of two weeks. Webroot Spy Sweeper delivers a total solution in that it offers 360 degrees of protection from spyware. The program works to prevent the infecting software from ever reaching your computer. Once you install the program, it performs a full system sweep and any spyware infections that are found on your computer are destroyed. The program reaches out to not only business clients, but also home users and gamers. Webroot Spy Sweeper features unique gaming modules that blocks ads and other unwanted solicitations even while you are beating up the “noobs” on your favorite online real time strategy games! Now, this does come with a price, the free version of the software will not remove existing spyware, it will just tell you that there is spyware in your computer and that you need to get rid of it. Because of this, I could not perform a full test on the software.
One of the perks about Webroot Spy Sweeper is that it is Vista compatible. It loads just fine and runs pretty well on Vista (32bit). The interface is very easy to understand and use, it was clearly designed with new users in mind as the home section is geared toward providing most of the functionality you will need. The sweeper option includes a schedule so that you can schedule your scams for when it’s convenient to you, such as when you’re asleep. The software includes and apps shield that protects you from ActiveX spyware. This also serves to provide another great feature, which is it protects you from Windows Messenger exploits, key loggers, rouge startup programs, and root kits. When I was installing Webroot Spy Sweeper, I did run into a problem because I had one of my previous test subjects still installed on the computer, so do make sure that you uninstall any other antivirus or antispyware utilities before you attempt to install this software or it will probably throw a fit because of file conflicts. I do have a word of advice for folks looking for a quick and free spyware removal program, to get rid of existing spy ware or malware infections, you are much better off to look elsewhere, as this program’s trial is worthless for anything other than previewing how the software runs and how it is to work with, so it’s with a heavy hand that I feel obliged to tell you not to download it unless you’re pretty sure you are going to buy it.
So, in closing, Webroot Spy Sweeper would be a better program if they allowed people who happened on it searching for free spyware removal to use the program to see how effective it is at removing the threats, while it did pick up all of the threats I had on my computer, I will never know if it cleanly deletes them, to me, that’s a marketing blunder for Webroot Spy Sweeper.
