Avast Antivirus – Avast Free Removal Tool

avast! Internet Security

Avast Antivirus is more than a word ordering a stop or desist action, it’s an antivirus program which demands that malicious programs that are harming your computer stop (and die)! Avast Antivirus comes in four different flavors. There is an Avast Desktop, Avast Home Edition, Avast Small Business, and Avast Enterprise. Of the four, Avast Home(Avast Free) is the free version of the virus removal tool, the Small Business edition costs between $24 and $124 per user depending on how many users (seats/computers) you’re buying licenses for and the length of the contract (one to three years), and the professional version runs between $37and $107 per seat. Avast also has the ability to run as either a server or a standalone installation on a workstation. Avast Antivirus offers free virus removal and scanning for as long as you are not using it for your business or are a government employee. If you are either a business or using it on behalf of your government, you must purchase a license.

For the purposes of review, we’ll be looking at the free virus removal version, Avast Home. Avast Home is also know as Avast Free. The program itself comes in a 300Kb file. The interface is relatively cut and dry, small and very simple. The program features some nice selling points. It hides itself from attacking programs (viruses and malware) by encrypting itself and randomizing its processes. Avast also offers some integration services such as protection for e-mail, browsing, and even instant messengers. The program features both visual and audio alerts when a threat is detected and may be configured to perform scans at boot up (for Windows users). Avast also performs more traditional antivirus duties. It updates on its own, performs full system scans, and alerts users when something is awry.

Avast is one of the most widely used antivirus programs on the market today. As of April of 2009, Avast had over 80 million users world wide. Part of this success is due to Avast’s ability to run on either Windows or Linux. By appealing to users of both very popular operating systems, Avast is in a good position to do what it does best: virus removal. As I said before, Avast is free virus removal. It provides protection for 60 days, thereafter, it needs to be licensed, to license the program, you simply fill out a form online and key a license key into Avast. This key is good for fourteen months, thereafter, you must redo the registration process. To assist you in your decision to continue the program’s licensing, Avast has proven themselves superior by winning a couple awards, the “Secure Computing Readers’ Trust Award” for best antivirus and it was awarded the “Advanced +” rating by the independent testing company AV Comparatives

In summary, Avast Antivirus is very popular and it’s easy to see why. It is cross platform, covers home users and servers alike. It’s a free virus removal tool for home users for life and it’s user friendly. It’s worth the look if you need simple, quick and effective virus removal.
