Command – Free Malware Removal – Free Trial
Command is a free antivirus and antispyware utility created by Authentium. Their slogan is “Remember what safe feels like?” Well, to answer that question, I downloaded their software, which comes with a 30 day free trial and is the winner of plenty of awards, to name a couple, it’s placed very well on the Virus Bulletin Board and with Westcoast Labs, and from Checkmark, it received very high marks for its effectiveness and efficiency over load. Authentium also offer SDKs, or standard development kits. These pieces of software allow developers to create software using source code and research that the creators of Command have already done. Some fascinating points to their SDK includes secure virtualization and advanced anti-malware techniques.
The Command program, as I previously said is available for download, the retail version of the program costs $39.95. The program is effective under load as Authentium claim the active-malware processes can examine over 4 billion e-mails per week (or 571 million e-mails a day, 24 million e-mails per hour, or 400,000 e-mails per second). While in scale, this doesn’t seem very impressive, it actually is, a program must be designed very efficiently to be able to provide that level of service and be reliable at the same time.
Part of Command’s success in being so efficient is it’s designed with a simple four phase system where it virtually eliminates false positives, this is especially important in mission critical environments of high demand as false positives waste processor time and take up resources which could be used for more critical problems. Finally, Command features an advances behavior based (heuristics) engine, this engine uncovers malicious threats that other programs often miss.
Command’s interface comes in two flavors, there is the retail one you buy and there is the free version of the software you use over the internet. The internet version of the software is a very simple set of list boxes with a scan button In these list boxes, you select which folders, hard drive, or even the whole computer, and the program will check them for viruses and malware. The retail version of the software though has a very different interface. All of the program’s functions (save for getting help or support) are available on the left pane, there is an “Overview”, a “Scan”, a “Reports”, an “Alerts” and finally and “Updates” tab, additionally there’s a switch to control the level of user control. The switch is simply “Basic” or “Advanced”. For the sake of brevity, we’re just going to discuss the “Scan” and “Updates” functions. The “Scan Function”, like its online brother, allows the user to scan files, folders or the whole computer, additionally, scans can be scheduled for a later time if you buy the business class software, the “Updates” function allows scheduled updates or user controlled updates. Command Anti-Malware is a very intuitive and easy to use program, there is a lot of functionality and comprehensiveness. It’s definitely recommended, so to answer the question.. yes, I remember what safe feels like!
